As a guitarist, Rick studied with Nina Rockley, Ken Johnson, and Rene Heredia. Flute training came from Rod Garnett.

Rick plays in both jazz and classical idioms. His vocal repertoire and guitar styles include bossa nova, show tunes, pop, jazz, folk, calypso, flamenco, blues and classical. Each style receives a fresh arrangement from Rick's musical experience. His musicianship appeals to audiences of diverse ages.

The moods Rick creates can be subtle and supportive for ambient background or direct and compelling to a concert audience. He performs for receptions, weddings, house parties, dinner parties, fundraisers, conventions, civic clubs, art exhibitions, anniversaries, restaurants, and in concert.

"For over twelve years, the staff and customers of Creekside Cellars have enjoyed the live music of Rick Scheideman for a number of years. But merely listening to his music is an understatement. Properly said, customers have been mesmerized by his talent and stage warmth. The sounds produced by his personally produced hand made Flamenco and Classic guitars are by turns joyous and inspiring. His timeless tunes and ballads have had more profound an effect on our customers than any online dating service. Rick does not entertain-he makes memories."

-Bill Donahue, Owner, Creekside Cellars

"Scheideman is a man of many talents with two albums of mellow acoustic music, several personally crafted guitars, and acting credits as Mark Twain and Hemingway's 'Old Man and the Sea.'"

-Brian Muir, Staff Writer, The Canyon Courier

"The kind of melow melodic music performed by Rick seemed to set the customers at ease, He became the focus, people would applaud after each song, and Rick became one of the main reasons for repeat business. If you're looking for a laid back softer style of music for entertainment, Rick is one of the best out there...I only ask that you not use him in the summer...I have dibs on Rick in the summer."

-Sean Martines, Manager, Bridgewater Grill Golden

"I want you to know how much we enjoy your CD. I have it in my office and it helps create a beautiful atmosphere-very soulful. Thank you for your thoughtfulness. It is indeed a special weekend when we can eat at the winery and listen to your music."

-Andrea Cohen

"His gentle vocals and familiar melodies enriched the welcoming atmosphere. I made sure the library got some copies of this local talent so others could share his art. We also have had him perform during the holidays for our patrons, and they always ask us to make sure and have him back!"

-Kathy Husband, Library Manager, Jefferson County Public Library
